| Well, this is my last xanga post. I'm going to facebook. All of you know that, but this is just a confirmation. Goodbye. | | |
| What does Muhammed Ali, Cults, Berlin-1945, Cockroaches, George W. Bush, Gila Monsters, and Lucille Ball have in common? My friends think that they're all ADORABLE. Or at least, they did when we were playing Apples to Apples last night, at my birthday party. We did 2 or 3 games of that, and 2 games of Settlers of Catan (chich is an awesome game). In Apples, we had a LOT of random stuff in there (who would believe that Jack the Ripper is Radiant and Charismatic?), but we managed to do all right. Then I owned everyone in Settlers, because I had analyzed it thoroughly the first time we played it, and I picked some of the better spots on the board, such as providing the only profitable way to get rid of their most excess resource, and getting a diversified economy. We went to sleep at about 1:30, and I got a better nights' sleep than a lot of school nights. Then we woke up, did stuff, and watched people leave, and played Settlers again. Andrew technically won, but he also technically cheated, but he also technicaly didn't know. So after a few good dice rolls, after he left (we kept playing), I had enough resources to push my way through. And then I went Christmas shopping with Deborah, and obtained an indeterminate amount of items that may-or-may-not be given to someone or something in a short period of time. | | |
| Ok, for those of you who have heard of Animator vs Animation, the game is out now. For those of you who haven't heard it: http://www.atomfilms.com/film/animator_vs_animation.jsp?channelKeyword=channel_animator It is very funny, and you need to see it, and the sequel. I spent too much time yesterday playing the game, because my name is on the animations top 100 list a total of 23 times, including 1st and 2nd. Anyway, today at Danny's house, we got together. Hubels, Danny, Danny's roomate Andrew, John (Danny's brother), and myself. We played Settlers of Catan, which is an awesome game. You basically build settlements and roads, using resources collected depending on die rolls and the location of your settlements. I had a lot of resources, but it was half early-game, and half late-game. I would still have been doing very well, though, if not for Ben fencing me in (he did; given the choice of expanding in a largely unsettled direction or a dead-end, he chose the dead-end, just so he could block me from getting it). But I still did very well, through the control of two essential ports. But Daniel had a very big control over both of the late-game resources, and he also had a card that made us give him all of our resource of a particular kind one time. So he won, with 10 points, but I had 8 points, and may have been able to win in the next turn or so. And we stayed a bit after that, played SSBM, and I went home. *does something random* No, I didn't really do anything random. | | |
| Ok, I haven't gotten on in the longest time. Let me tell you how things have been in my life. Band homework school homework band homework sleep school band homework homework homework band sleep. Then, recently, I've been able to go to MK (except for last Monday night, when I just had too much homework). Let me also tell you a bit about each of my classes.
AP Human Geography: Great. Mr. Williams seems to understand that we don't have a lot of time, so all that we're really expected to do at home is vocabulary and reading the chapter and answering a few questions over it. English 3 AP: Mrs. Wheeler has a student teacher, who I disagree with on a lot of points. We were going over a speech by Nixon, and she was overanalyzing it, pointing out how "I believe the truth should be told. That's why I'm going to tell you my side of the story" are not saying the exact same thing. I really disagree with her on that. But On some things, like sentence structure and syntax, I can definitively prove her wrong. Band: Band Latin 4 AP: I'm doing independent study in the Japanese class. That's pretty awesome, since they're teaching me some phrases in Japanese (genki desu ka?). Precal Pre-AP: I recently found out that Mrs. Cartmell does NOT like making us be organized, as I used to think. She takes a test grade each six weeks over the organization of our folders, and I found out just last week that she doesn't like doing that. But I don't have much confidence in her teaching abilities, even though she does know her stuff. Band: Yeah, I have band for a full block, every single day. Physics Pre-AP: Somewhat like Precal, except I enjoy physcs more and don't like Mrs. Reynolds as much. AP US History: Oh, this is a great class. Mr. Strunc is the type of teacher who will make fun of everyone (he still has his favorites), except that he does it in a funny way so you don't feel offended, and he can always support his argument. We also have great people in the class.
And... I'm not sure exactly how this will turn out, since I can't seem to do it in the regular box, and I think I'm doing it in HTML. If it turns out in one big long line, then I'll go back and fix it.
During band season, when I was waiting for Mom to come pick me up one time, I saw an ant, trying to move a Doritos chip. It would drag one end, then go to the other end and drag that towards its destination, very slowly making its way somewhere. I thought, "Is there some message in this that can be applied to life?" Then I thought, "No, I've just had too much of English class." Hahahahah.
It's Thanksgiving break!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hm, I think that this will have some formatting errors. Stand back!
EDIT: Hm, nope. Everything's just fine. | | |
| Ok, here's my first post in a long time. I've been busy with band and homework, and everything else comes after that, it seems. I feel like I'm never going to get the MK newsletter done (because I don't know where to start, because the articles are just page-long walls of text), or my Eagle Scout papers filled out, or do a general tidying-up in my room. But... Yesterday was great, because Danny was there. We played SSBM, and I did well. Then we played Bounty, and I did terribly. I was getting the lowest cargos and lowest rolls of everyone. Then I turned pirate. ( ;D <--pirate hat. Daniel and Austin also turned pirate, but I waited until Daniel had robbed Austin and someone else (Jeff, maybe) before I took everything from Daniel. I then started toward home port. Jeff had gotten another cargo, and I landed right next to him. Austin pointed out that I was still a pirate, and I decided to get Jeff if he didn't move. He did, so I continued on. Austin dared me to come down and face him, so I did. He was a pirate to, so we had a shootout. I won. I went back up, and Jeff decided to make a break past me for home port. He got to within one square. Then I came up behind him and caught him, then on the next roll I went into home port. That was so fun... Then Daniel turned pirate, and robbed Jeff. Jeff decided to actually try and get his cargo back, and I only had a cargo worth 2 coins (a good cargo will net more than 50 coins). So I moved right next to Daniel so that Jeff would have some time to get a pirate-hunting licence. The funny thing is, Daniel went to rob Austin, who had more of a cargo, instead. Austin was a warship. Daniel lost. I laughed and continued to get one of the best cargos in the game. So now, I have an essay to write, a writing journal to do, a Latin poem to translate, and a test to study for. I'm swamped. *waits for inevitable Princess Bride line* And that's just my homework. Bleah. | | |
